The Places of Memory [Lugares da Memória] program aims to identify and inventory the places of memory linked to events of resistance and political repression in the state of São Paulo, seeking to expand the reach of the preservation of the Memorial da Resistência. The content is fully available in the digital repository.
The recognition e revisitation of these places is an important instrument of education for the citizens, bringing historical events closer to our present and revealing new layers of the city where we live.
Among the actions developed by the program are:
- Inventory and make available references to public and private places linked to repression and political resistance, such as prisons, prison camps, places of torture and abductions, as well as squares, streets, universities, and theaters;
- Offering financial aid for temporary/travelling exhibitions and for updating the contents of the long-term exhibition;
- Offering documentary, bibliographic, and iconographic references about places of memory aiming at preservation measures, elaboration of thematic tourist itineraries and other dissemination measures.
