We carry out this work through education, research, and the organization of thematic exhibitions. Our work is guided by the advocacy of Citizenship, democracy, and human rights.
Between 1940 and 1983, the State Department of Political and Social Order of São Paulo (Deops-SP) operated here. It was one of the most truculent political police in Brazil. Therefore, our headquarters have enormous historical and symbolic value.
We are managed by the Associação Pinacoteca Arte e Cultura (APAC) and act as a member of the The International Coalition of Sites of Conscience. Our Cultural Orientation Council is composed of: Carla Gilbertoni Carneiro, Paulo de Tarso Vannuchi, Eduardo Ferreira Valério, Mário Augusto Medeiros da Silva, Luciana Cesar Guimarães, Jerá Guarani and Sheila Santana de Carvalho.
